Dandeli Teak is a very popular and high-quality type of teak wood grown in many forest regions across India, especially in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka. It gets its name from the Dandeli forests in Karnataka, which are well-known for producing strong and durable teak wood.

In Telugu, we call teak wood as తేకు చెక్క (Tēku Chekka) and the tree as తేకు చెట్టు (Tēku Chettu). This type of wood is very strong, has a smooth grain, and lasts for many years without damage. It does not get easily affected by termites, water, or weather, which is why people use it for furniture, doors, windows, and even in shipbuilding.

The soil in these forest areas is rich in natural minerals like iron, mica, silicates, and manganese. These minerals help the teak trees grow strong and give the wood a rich color and texture. Teak from this region is golden brown and becomes more beautiful as it ages.

All the forests where this teak grows are protected and managed by the State Forest Departments. The government follows sustainable practices, like replanting trees and allowing only limited cutting, to protect nature and forests for the future. Some of these forests are also certified by international agencies for eco-friendly forest management.

Because of its strength, beauty, and long life, Dandeli Teak is in high demand not only in India but also in other countries. It is one of the most valuable types of wood India exports.
